As the
internet is becoming more and more entrenched in our daily lives, and in every
single thing we literally use, the notion of internet security is indeed a hot
topic. In the front lines of this fierce battle between hackers and internet
security firms is “Anti-Virus Guard,” or simply just AVG!
AVG not
only offers security for computers, including Windows, Linux, and Macs, besides
mobile security for most platforms and other basic computer tune-up products,
but it also is looking into providing, in time, security software for cars, refrigerators,
and anything that will be connected to the internet.
Similarly,
McAfee, like AVG, is also going into the online security business. A couple of
years ago it hired a prominent hacker, Barnaby Jack, to “break into cars.” Obviously,
both of these companies, AVG and McAfee, like probably many others, are just
doing research for now. But, looking ahead into the future, they are probably
trying to diversify their potential revenue streams.
All in all,
as the world ventures of into the “internet of things,” many online security
breaches will occur, and many will make money by trying to prevent such
breaches, i.e. business opportunities.
