Thanks to
the new RFID GoPasse Cards, Skiing at Mont-Saint Saveur has been brought to a
whole new level. A while back, this skiing resort announced that it was going
to implement radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology at its marvelous
and, at least, Quebec renowned mountain.
Even though
folks representing this skiing mountain claim that introducing the RFID
technology was a so-called “green initiative,” I believe, as will many, that
this effort will transform the way skiing is done, the company makes its profits,
and the way people will interact with such a system.
To begin
with, well, on the skiing side, this GoPasse will allow skiers to track the “number
of runs [they] make in a day,” in addition to how many times a skier skis
during the year. In addition, GoPasse is also trying to engage the consumer, by
enabling the top 25 skiers of the season to “collect virtual pins.” Even more,
the person who turns out to be the top skier will get “his name engraved on the
GoPasse Trophy.”
Moreover,
let us look at the profits side. Above all, the GoPasse will definitely allow
the Mountain to offer special deals to certain customers, and try to get that
extra dollar of a given customer. For instance, (this is just one example) they
may offer discounts, in boutique stores, restaurants, and repair shops, based on
the number of time a skier goes to the mountain. Heck, maybe even give him or
her, a free day pass, a free coffee, or at least something “free.” And the
reason the Mountain would do that, once again, would be to keep the loyal
customers happy, so they can keep coming back and referring others to do come
back as well.
Finally,
there are 5 different ways the GoPasse will change the way people interact with
the mountain.
Number 1:
One card does it all. Just leave it in your jacket for the entire season.
Number 2:
No more waiting lines. (Everyone despises them J)
Number 3:
10% - 15% off Ticket Discounts
Number 4:
Reusable Card
Number 5:
Card Replacement cost only $5
All in all, Mount Saint
Saveur has added RFID technology to its facilities for one reason, and one
reason only. It not only creates value for them, as an organization, but it
also allows them to better serve its customers, and this maybe even gives them a competitive edge over
its customers, since it “is the second resort to get RFID gates in Quebec!”
